Homeschooling 101

The Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA) site is filled with wonderful information for new and veteran homeschool families.  You can find a brief overview of options and requirements for homeschooling in Florida on this page.  Be sure to download and read through Starting Points while you are visiting the FPEA site.

It is wise to regularly review the legal requirements to homeschool and be sure that you are in compliance with all regulations.

Home Education Statutes in Florida
1002.01-Defines Home Education programs
1002.41-Outlines procedures for notifying your local authorities of your intent to homeschool and for providing an annual evaluation.  Also lists programs in which homeschool students are eligible to participate.

The FPEA site also has helpful sample letters and forms available for download, including a sample letter of intent, which needs to be sent to your district superintendent within 30 days of establishing a home education program.

Please see this post:  Registering with the District to Homeschool.
